Industrial Ion Trap Chips with Integrated Optics
摘要
Trapped ions are among the most researched and advanced quantum computing hardware platforms. The use of free-space optics does not scale to large, high-fidelity ion trap processors due to beam pointing errors and spatial restrictions. Therefore, future ion trap chip architectures require integrated waveguiding and focusing for stable beam placement in ion ensembles. This paper gives an overview of photonics and optics integration schemes developed in the industrial environment of Infineon. Challenges that come with femtosecond laser written waveguides as well as thin film slab waveguides in conjunction with focusing grating couplers, including fiber-to-chip coupling and integration density are discussed.
