Widely Tunable External Cavity Laser Across the 1634-1777 nm Spectrum with Sub-kHz Linewidth

摘要

The wavelength region of around 1700 nm has a myriad of applications including gas sensing (i.e. CH4, C2H2, C2H4, C3H8), spectroscopy, LIDAR, and medical diagnostics. In this work we report a chip-integrated laser for these applications, having a wide tuning range from 1634–1777 nm, through the hybrid integration of an off-the-shelf gain chip and a low-loss wavelength-tunable mirror integrated on a Si3N4 chip. The laser shows an output power up to 7.7 mW and an intrinsic linewidth of 0.54 kHz.
