Models Supporting Cast Iron Production Based on Artificial Intelligence and Prediction Methods

This chapter presents an assessment of the possibility of using digital image classifiers for tomographic and microstructure images concerning ductile iron castings, supported by data analysis and used the prediction models. The results of this work are usable in development of an efficient system suggestion allowing for decision making regarding the qualitative assessment of the cast-ing process parameters. Special attention should be focused on the fact that automatic classification in the case of ductile iron castings is difficult to perform, because of not all data on process conditions are measured during the process. The chapter presents min. test scenarios of a module that analyzes two-dimensional tomographic images. Entire work is presented with regard to the background of the ADI cast iron production process to locate the requirement pointing where to apply the developed methods. On the basis of result trial castings were operated.
