A Theoretical Investigation of the Conflict of the Russian-Ukraine War and the Impact on Global Development

  • David Mhlanga

摘要

The ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine has been the subject of intense scrutiny and analysis within the international community. However, while much attention has been paid to the geopolitical and domestic factors driving the conflict, little attention has been given to the impact of global development trends. This chapter provides a theoretical investigation of the conflict, drawing on a range of international relations theories and development studies perspectives to explore the interplay between the conflict and global development. The paper begins by examining the key drivers of the conflict, before analysing the impact of development trends such as globalisation, democratisation, and neoliberalism on the conflict and its resolution. This chapter argues that global development trends have both exacerbated and offered potential solutions to the conflict and that a comprehensive understanding of the conflict requires an interdisciplinary approach that considers the economic, political, and social dimensions of development. Ultimately, the paper concludes that a sustainable and peaceful resolution to the conflict will require a coordinated effort to address the root causes of conflict, including economic inequality, political exclusion, and cultural tensions, and to promote inclusive and equitable development.
