摘要

In Chap. 1 , we discussed the beginning of containerisation and how container ships have progressively evolved and expanded to ever larger proportions. Compared to the first container ships of the 1950 and 1960s, today’s behemoths truly are masters of the sea. In this chapter, we will discuss some of the fundamental issues around the positioning and securing of containers onboard ships.
