摘要

Acinetobacter, Aegyptianella, Aeromonas, Arcanobacterium, Listeria monocytogenes and Borrelia have been isolated from poultry. A. baumannii was isolated from geese, falcons and other birds. However, in general, birds are not considered as a primary host for A. baumannii. Aegyptianella pullorum causes severe anaemia in chickens, turkeys, guineafowl, quail, pigeons, crows, waterfowl, ratites, falcons, passerines and psittacines, which increases their risk of developing ascites and failure in the right ventricular heart. In turkeys, Aeromonas causes severe diarrhoea, haemorrhagic enteritis and cellulitis. Arcanobacterium is associated with osteomyelitis involving turkeys’ proximal tibiotarsus and/or thoracic vertebra. Listeria monocytogenes causes septicaemia and encephalitis in birds, particularly young birds, and is characterised by myocarditis. Borrelia causes sporadic outbreaks in chickens, turkeys, pheasants, geese and ducks. In this chapter, we will shed light on these bacteria that cause sporadic infections in poultry.
