The Digital Image and Its Processing: Quality Controls in Mammography: An Overview

This chapter discusses the digital image, starting with the signal conversion from analogue to digital through concepts such as the greyscale, pixel depth and dynamic range. Some pre- and post-processing operations are also mentioned. The technical quality of the image displayed is then summarised and, briefly, the quality controls (QCs) used to verify it.
