Anatomy

The chapter deals first with the gross anatomy of the breast, then with the internal one, linking it with the mammographic images in the two standard projections cranio-caudal (CC) and mediolateral oblique (MLO), in detail. Explanation about the subdivision of the breast in quadrants is provided. There is also a summary of the histological anatomy, the development and temporal involution of the breast gland, again linking it to the mammographic images.
