Magnetic Resonance Imaging of the Breast BMRI

  • Cristina Poggi

摘要

This chapter is devoted entirely to breast resonance imaging (BMRI): the main indications according to European and American official bodies are listed. A quick explanation of the physics of signal production and of the raw and displayed image is offered, as well as the BMRI contrast resolution and basic semiotics. The driving principle of neoangiogenesis is illustrated by correlating it with the functional study of BMRI. The positioning of the patient in the coil and centring of the slices package for acquisition are mentioned. The main sequences used are described, especially with regard to the dynamic sequence (DCE). The time-intensity curve (TIC) is presented in detail. The time window and preparation of the patient are also covered, as well as the study of patients with breast implants or electronic devices. A large section is devoted to diffusion study (DWI) and to the artefacts associated with this imaging methodology.
