Channel and Marine Dredging

This chapter uses previous studies in Darwin Harbour, Australia, to summarize and document our current understanding about sediment dynamics impacts in response to intensive human activities such as channel dredging and dumping in the study area. The studies utilizing both in-situ, remote sensing data and numerical modelling will be discussed to illustrate the dynamics response to these marine dredging activities. The chapter concludes that the dynamics response of Harbour to the dredging and dumping activities can be successfully simulated by sediment dynamics modelling and confirmed by MODIS remotes sensing data.
