India’s Current Situation with Regard to the Effects of Water Pollution on Agricultural Productivity and Public Health

India's rapidly expanding economy means it must tackle serious ecological challenges. One of the direct results of growth is air, water, and soil pollutionSoil pollution, which is only one of a wide range of issues defined as environmental difficulties. One of India's most pressing environmental concerns is water pollutionWater pollution. India's urban regions generate around 50,000,000,000 gallons of wastewater annually, the combined total of industrial and domestic wastewater. Money has been invested in various initiatives in India, including the Ganga action plan and the Jamuna action plan, to reduce river water pollutionWater pollution. Concentration, load, or frequencies of occurrence are common ways of measuring water quality and contamination levels. In addition, several other chemical and physical properties, including pH, DO, BOD and water quality has been down at the levels due to solids and inorganic trace elements. Even though several studies on water pollutionWater pollution have been conducted in India, it is unusual to find a quantitative study that takes into account how water pollutionWater pollution affects every sector of a country's economy. One of the main causes of water contamination is the discharge of chemicals and metals into the environment by factories and other commercial establishments. Negative effects on human health and the environment result from the discharge of raw sewage into rivers. The poisoning of water sources throughout the globe is mostly due to human actions. To aid in solving this issue, environmental education programs must be made available to students and the general public. The status of several water contaminants and their consequences on human health and agricultural output are discussed in this chapter. In this section, we construct a comprehensive water pollutionWater pollution coefficient matrix that includes several water pollutants. The study assesses the direct and indirect water pollutionWater pollution that various industries and activities in India cause, and the findings show that there is variation in the pollutionPollution levels caused by various economic endeavors in India. Several policy recommendations for addressing water pollutionWater pollution are included in the article as well.
