The Social and Economic Data of the Households in Malaka-Timor, Indonesia

This chapter presents and describes the introduction of each component of the social economic data using survey and interviews with 320 households in the research location, Malaka-Timor, Indonesia. The components are gender, age, education, job, and religion, and they form the baseline of reference for this project and for introducing the social and economic data of the households. Building resilience for flood disaster in Malaka-Timor, Indonesia, can be found through gathering this data (i.e., survey and interviews with 320 households). There is no supporting data on the research study of building resilience of affected communities facing for flood disaster in the research location provided by previous authors and researchers using survey and interviews, either in Indonesia or other countries. Thus, I was motivated to conduct this empirical research onsite i.e., surveys and interviews, as well as participatory research discussions, in the Focus Group Discussion (FGD) and Stakeholder Meetings (SMEs) (See Chap. 9 ) as risk perception data is sourced directly from affected communities that have experienced the challenges of flood hazards/disasters regularly in Malaka. The survey and interview data in the discussion of results section in this chapter gives us an overview of the socio-economic component of the affected communities in the flood disaster areas in the research location.
