Enabling Knowledge Management Culture During the Pandemic: Preliminary for the Post-pandemic Effect
摘要
A significant impact on the knowledge management (KM) initiatives is caused by the sudden change in working environment due to the global pandemic in 2020. The abrupt digital transformation has caused a lot of changes, impacting the KM initiatives in higher education institutions (HEIs). In addition to the hectic tasks of managing classes and attending meetings, faculty members were still required to perform well in research. For a university with diverse culture and level of commitment in research, there is a challenge to close the knowledge gap between the experienced researchers and the novices. The pandemic has made it more challenging, with the constant need to reach and motivate the researchers to be updated with knowledge through research activities. Hence, an investigation was performed to know how the KM activities affect the existing KM-enabled culture in the organization. The attributes of KM-enabled culture are explored to know whether they are affected by the KM on-going online activities during the pandemic. An exploratory factor analysis was conducted on the gathered data, resulting in four significant attributes of KM-enabled culture, observed still exist during the pandemic. The outcome is expected to give an input to future work on confirmatory factor analysis and post-pandemic effect.
