Increased Respect for Human Rights at Home
摘要
Increased respect for human rights at home is a desideratum for successful design and implementation of a human-right policy for Nigeria in the wake of General Buhari’s departure from the Nigerian political scene in May 2023, in an age of equally momentous changes in British politics, signified by the coronation of a new monarch. This chapter unearths and presents techniques for achieving that goal. It is the second, after Chapter 4 on reconstructing Nigeria’s national interest for human-right duties, in a sample of five distinctive methods this book explores. Two main segments the discussion covered are: justification for increased human rights at home, and a layout of seven steps designed to facilitate the achievement of that target. One teachable lesson that emerged from the discussion is the fine line between foreign and domestic policies, epitomized by the subtitle of this book, revolved around loving the foreigner as oneself.
