A State Worthy of Its Peoples’ Dreams at Home and Abroad

This chapter is the first of two materials on the exigency of a human-right policy for Nigeria post-Buhari. The material articulated and addressed three interrelated issues, all converged around the theme of Nigeria as a state worthy of the dreams of its diverse peoples at home and abroad. These are: explanation of the relationship between human rights and foreign policy, key to understanding of a human-right policy; marshal of several reasons why Nigeria needs to continue its journey toward a human-right policy abroad to the benefit of democracy and human rights at home that General Buhari’s two terms in office truncated; and introduction of a theoretical framework anchored in Constructivism that frames and informs the book.
