Wounds following a dog or cat bite require special care. Disinfection, debridement, and specific antibiotics are key for a good outcome. Specialist opinion is advisable for wounds of the face and hand. If the animal has escaped or cannot be identified, the patient should be directed for evaluation and follow-up at the nearest specialized center.
