Femoral Shaft Fractures

By definition, sub-trochanteric and supra-condylar fractures are not included in this chapter. Femoral shaft fractures include several patho-anatomical types: transverse, spiral, wedge, and segmental fractures, and peri-prosthetic fractures. A general assessment is crucial when the fracture is secondary to high energy trauma. Reduction and internal fixation is the gold standard treatment.
