摘要

Diagnosis of post-traumatic peripheral nerve injury is primarily clinical. The severity of the injury is categorized into three levels according to Seddon’s classification: neurapraxia, axonotmesis, and neurotmesis. EMG is not considered an “urgent” investigation. It becomes useful after 3 weeks from the trauma as it coincides with the onset of the Wallerian degeneration. The initial EMG serves as a baseline study to observe the progression of the injury.
