Performance as Experiment

Any scientific theory in the natural sciences has to be proven by experiment, and only after empirical approval by the means of experiment it can be considered as a law of nature. As Nobel Prize laureate, physicist Richard FeynmanFeynman, Richard stated: ‘The principle of science, the definition, almost, is the following: The test of all knowledge is experiment. Experiment is the sole judge of scientific “truth”.’ (2011, p. 2). This reveals the ‘empiristic attitude of modern science’. As W. Heisenberg wrote: ‘since the time of Galileo and Newton, modern science has been based upon a detailed study of nature and upon the postulate that only such statements should be made, as have been verified or at least can be verified by experiment’ (2000, p. 38).
