摘要

In this chapter, we will take an exploration into the dynamic world of participatory GIS (PGIS). This chapter aims to unravel the dense tapestry of disciplinary principles that support PGIS, providing readers with a complete understanding of its conceptual foundations, analytical complexities, and future research opportunities in the social sciences branches. This cutting-edge strategy, through its integration with PGIS, empowers communities and stakeholders to actively participate in the development, interpretation, and application of geographical information. Here, we highlight the power of PGIS in the field of social sciences. It is also a collective call to action, encouraging academics, practitioners, and policymakers to adopt a more democratic and inclusive approach to spatial knowledge generation. Through these talks, we suggest readers immerse themselves in the rich tapestry of participatory GIS, where the convergence of technology and community participation opens up new possibilities for our knowledge of space, place, and the power dynamics that define our society.
