Near East University Document Authentication and Verification System (NEU-DAVS) Using Blockchain Technology

Blockchain technology, dating back to 2008, is a security-oriented technology that is increasingly used in decentralized solutions for data transfer and storage issues, such as document forgeries. It stores tamper-evident data in a chain without a central repository, with nodes actively participating in data validation and verification. Blockchain encrypts data using cryptographic techniques, protecting privacy and ensuring reliability across various businesses. This study aims to create a secure document verification system for Near East University using blockchain technology, called Near East University Document Authentication and Verification System (NEU-DAVS). The system uses the Interplanetary File System to save documents, reducing certificate fraud and improving security. The Waterfall model of the System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) was used to develop the system, which uses distributed ledgers, IPFS, cryptographic concepts, and smart contracts for transparency and usability. NEU-DAVS is a groundbreaking solution that improves certificate verification in terms of time, cost, energy, workforce efficacy, confidence, and competency, ensuring accurate and efficient certificate verification.
