Animals and Environmental Justice at Sea
摘要
Regarding environmental degradation and the negative public health impacts of industrial agriculture, one of the most significant impediments to progress is drawing connections between nonhuman and human animal health. On land, there is incremental progress and increased awareness of the importance of the enmeshed well-being of human and nonhuman beings. While exploring what environmental justice means in aquatic spaces, the author asks, what of animals? The language and tools used to disentangle complicated issues of justice and equity at sea are doubly challenged by the lack of visibility of—and empathy for—aquatic animals.
