Farm Sanctuaries

Beginning with Farm Sanctuary in 1986, farm sanctuaries are operating around the world, urging people to see farm animals as friends, not food. These organizations care for animals who were rescued from slaughter, raise awareness about the abuses of factory farming, and promote the myriad benefits of vegan living. Along with embodying empathy and compassionate relationships between humans and other animals, the farm sanctuary movement is uniquely positioned to reform agriculture and engage with diverse constituencies, including farmers, to build a just and sustainable plant-based food system.
