Materials making and usage in design projects usually undergoes long production processes and potentially produce a negative impact on the environment. One of the ways to overcome the negative impact of material production on the environment is to apply a sustainable concept, in which it is about how to balance between natural resources and the fulfilment of increasing human needs. Since 2021, team of students and lecturers from Interior Design Department, School of Design, Universitas Pelita Harapan worked collaboratively with NGO to design supporting facilities for SDN 83 Kemang Manis, an elementary school in the remote area of Bengkulu, Sumatera. This paper is about research to evaluate materials production and usage within the design, conducted using case study methods with the parameters of Kishnani's six sustainable principles. The research aimed to show whether the six principles of sustainability have been achieved in materials used in the design of SDN 83 Kemang Manis, and whether the material used in the design is sustainable, has the potential to be sustainable, or not sustainable. At the end the research showed the relationship between Kishnani's six sustainable principles within the context of materials sustainability.
