A Review of Measurement of Energy Footprints Across Different Industrial Sectors
摘要
The current industrial scenario is replete with challenges pertaining to the conservation of the environment. The rising importance of sustainability in industrial operations and the multiplicity of the nature of various industrial operations have further confounded this problem. This phenomenon has contributed to the development of several methods and models for measuring the influence of industrial processes on the sustainability of the environment. Researchers and institutions have contributed to the development of metrics which measure the energy footprints of different industrial sectors. This study reviews the metrics in the current body of knowledge to present a structured analysis of various indicators which determine the energy footprints. This study also captures the complex set of indicators and metrics that are applied across different industries for measuring the energy footprint. Given that the extant literature does not present any such evidence which captures the diverse indicators for the measurement of energy footprints, this study occupies a unique space in the current knowledge.
