Interventional Radiology
摘要
Equal representation within the field of Interventional Radiology (IR) of women and specific subsets of minority groups has remained low, which reflects suboptimal recruitment before, during, and after IR training. Limited studies exist to characterize the overall national demographic trends of the current IR workforce, preventing accurate assessments of ongoing efforts to close the gap on physician workforce diversity in IR. To address these needs, presented here are data on the status of diversity within the current IR workforce including current trends in representation of individuals who have been historically underrepresented in medicine as well as women. Also depicted are historic and current demographic trends which reflect the diversity of IR trainees. A summative overview of the current hurdles to diversity, equity, and inclusion within the field of IR as well as corresponding efforts to reverse this gap is also provided.
