摘要
The academic nature of the Museum is evident in its dedication to promoting the history of research and teaching activities, with particular regards to Machinery and Applied Mechanics. To this purpose a relevant part of its exhibit presents the evolution of motoring, highlighting technical and scientific aspects crucial to the development of various machines. Research activities form a vital bridge between the past and future, showcased through a collection of mechanical parts and scientific equipment. These instrumentsInstrument, dating back to the nineteenth century, were originally used for studying steam and internal combustion engines at the laboratories of the University of Palermo. Evolving alongside technological advancements, the instruments transitioned from mechanical to electronic and digital systems, offering greater precision and data processing capabilities. The collection also includes different types of dynamometric brakes for engine test bench, as well as several equipment and mechanical part and accessories, from carburettors up to modern fuel injection systems. Some items, including rare wooden propellers and cockpit instrumentsInstrument originate from early aviation period, adding a noteworthy historical and collectible significance even in this part of the Museum’s collection.
