Pedagogies of Place with Children in Kenya and South Africa: Reflections on Early Childhood Ecologies, Permaculture, and Curriculum
摘要
This chapter discusses various aspects of early childhood education policy and practice in Kenya and South Africa, especially as these intersect with place. The chapter includes personal and autoethnographic reflections, vignettes based on experiences and previous research on policy and curricula in both nations, and place-based educational examples of ways in which local culture and ecologies can be/come foci in early years programs, even though national and local curricula often reflect missed opportunities to do so.
