摘要

Traditional models of substance use treatment focus on skills directly tied to use behaviors and have demonstrated limited efficacy in targeting substance use disorders (SUD) with co-occurring emotional disorders (ED). Affect Management Treatment (AMT) is a novel, transdiagnostic treatment designed to target the various maladaptive cognitive, behavioral, and emotional reactions to negative affect that maintain both SUD and ED. The following chapter provides an overview of the theoretical model supporting this treatment, reviews the treatment components through a case example, and discusses special considerations related to the implementation of this treatment.
