To talk about Escher and the paradox that the latter pursued throughout his artistic career, it is necessary to focus on the meaning of simulation of reality. The latter is defined by G. Bettetini as an imitation, a representation, a reproduction, but also a fiction, a deception: “The art of simulation involves the executive ability of the portrait, the statue, the scenographic setting, of the representation of the idea; but also, that of cheating, of stratagem.
