Triton and Pluto

Building upon our examination of Ceres, Dione, and Ariel in the preceding chapter, we extend our investigation in this tenth chapter to explore further potential ocean worlds. Our focus now shifts towards Neptune’s moon Titan and the Kuiper Belt Object Pluto. These two planetary objects share a lot of similarities and provide a strong case of them likely hosting a subsurface ocean. We review each object in detail, unveiling how they were discovered and the missions that went to explore them, Voyager 2 and New Horizons. Through a comprehensive overview of these bodies, we delve into their geological features, shedding light on the factors contributing to their potential for hosting liquid water beneath their surfaces. We also evaluate their capacity to support life in the past, and potentially even at present.
