Feeding The World
摘要
The majority of the earth’s population is better fed, better sheltered, protected from disease, richer, and lives longer than100 years ago. This is related to agriculture’s successful production practices. Achieving agriculture’s goal of feeding a growing population demanding more, better food relies on improving agriculture’s production practices and technology. Within agriculture, the conventional wisdom is pesticides (especially herbicides), fertilizer, imporved crop varieties, reliable irrigation water, and a wide range of useful, necessary, tools are essential to agriculture’s goal—feeding the world.
