Materials Selection

This short chapter gives an introduction to materials selectionMaterials selection. The recognition of the need to include other factors such as cost, material supply, access to required manufacturing equipment etc. in the materials selection process is highlighted. A systematic approach to materials selection and the use of Ashby plots is explained.
