Conclusion and Future Directions

In previous chapters, we have presented our observations and results on mobile data dynamics in heterogeneous wireless networks, from four aspects: the cause, description, governing rule, and impact, respectively. These efforts are merely a small step toward the ultimate goal of provisioning for edge-native AI, or Edge Intelligence (EI). In this chapter, we summarize our findings, then discuss challenges and open questions that are relevant and timely to this emerging research field.
