摘要

The existence of all living things depends on water. Over the years, water pollution has increased substantially, and it is now recognized as a severe global issue. Hazardous pollutants like colors, medications, personal care items, heavy metals, fertilizer, and pesticides, as well as the products they turn into, pose substantial risks to human health and the environment. Water purification and water quality maintenance have been attempted using a variety of methods. The majority of technological solutions are based on the types of pollutants that are present in the water. The hazardous contaminants found in wastewater effluents mingle with other water streams that are used for a number of purposes, including irrigation and other domestic chores. In this chapter, the assessment of environmental risk, health risk, modern developments in hazardous pollutants removal is included along with the conventional treatment methods. The various methods for identifying and quantifying dangerous contaminants, as well as recent developments is also discussed.
