Projecting the Future of Religion, Health, and Development in Africa
摘要
This is a concluding chapter that emanates from the summaries and analyses of arguments made from the chapters in the handbook. The chapter highlights some key issues that are likely to characterize the intersection between religion, health, and the implications for sustainable development in the continent, in the future. The perceptions that the editors have on these issues largely speak to ways in which we see religion influencing healthcare, but also vice versa; that is, how health and healthcare in the continent, and challenges thereof, are likely to continuously speak to religious actors, calling for action. Centrally, is the need for improved health and wellbeing of Africa, as well as the relevance of frameworks that are applicable to the developing world. The chapter reflects on the emerging patterns and trends in the intersectionalities and entanglements between the key concepts. This is in an effort to offer an interpretive framework and prospects for understanding religion, health, and development.
