摘要

This paper describes several ways in which a rocking frame can be designed and the advantages and disadvantages of each. Then the design of the self-centering rocking frame for the RObust BUilding SysTem (ROBUST) testing is explained, with the special considerations that were made for V type frame bracing. Some details of the final design, using a GripNGrab tension only friction dissipator, together with photos and some preliminary response graphs are then described. It was shown that the rocking frame behaved as expected and it fully self-centred under shaking corresponding with a peak ground acceleration of 0.67 g.
