Goals and Metrics of Success
摘要
As science and medicine progress, the conduct of clinical trials becomes equally critical, considering factors such as participant experience, diversity, and the reduction of burden on participants and caregivers. This section explores metrics, starting with emerging financial data from the Tufts Center for the Study of Drug Development (CSDD) highlighting potential cost savings associated with DCTs. The Decentralized Trials and Research Alliance (DTRA) and its Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) team developed 10 metrics to measure success in hybrid and full DCTs. Each metric is discussed in detail, emphasizing the importance of participant experience, safety, diversity, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness. Finally, the metrics are applied to trial design, emphasizing the need for careful consideration of KPIs aligned with protocol goals. The evolving landscape of DCTs calls for ongoing discussion and data gathering to inform best practices and measure success in this dynamic field.
