Experiences on Use of State Estimator at Hydro One

This chapter describes practical issues for validating power system models and application results in order to improve state estimation solution quality and reliability. Hydro One made systematic efforts in model error identification and parameter tuning to achieve satisfactory state estimator performance for real-time operations. Some of the experiences, challenges, and results are discussed. This is a revision and update from previous work reported in Guo et al. (Model validation for improving state estimation, in Proceedings of IEEE PES General Meeting, 2014).
