Implementation of State Estimator at Entergy

Entergy has been using state estimator for over 25 years and accumulated significant experience running and managing it. In this chapter, we attempt to share some of the issues encountered with application settings, model errors, controls, etc. we put in place to identify and catch them before major impact. We also discuss briefly the two distinct efforts to expand the external model performed about a decade apart. The later effort resulted in a model that improved solution quality to a great extent. This stable performance resulted in valid solutions even with a system battered by a major hurricane in 2020.
