The Special Thematic Session on Accessibility for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing underscored the urgent need to address the escalating prevalence of hearing disabilities, which affected an estimated 430 million individuals worldwide. This session showcased a comprehensive array of research papers that delved into recent advancements in hearing aids, cochlear implants, and captioning systems. Additionally, it highlighted the significant shift towards online education platforms for sign language, emphasizing the pivotal role of technology in enhancing communication accessibility and media consumption for the Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing community. This session was dedicated to exploring innovative accessibility technologies and methodologies that promised to uphold and extend inclusivity.
