Environmental Toxicology
摘要
This chapter sheds light on a specular environmental toxicology concept, a significantly younger branch of science. However, its significance is now broadly recognized. This chapter introduces the basics of this continually expanding discipline. The chapter provides an overview of environmental toxicology and its subfields. A review of the definitions of environmental toxicology and the fundamentals of the subject follows this. A concise summary of the sources and classes of environmental toxicants and their impacts on the aquatic environment were also presented. Finally, the four major steps in risk assessment in the field of environmental toxicology were outlined. The transboundary nature of some environmental toxicants and the facilities required for the research on environmental toxicology entail cooperation within and between countries. In addition, awareness is vital for human health and proper monitoring of environmental toxicants and their effects on the ecosystem.
