Microbial Toxins Degradation
摘要
Microbial toxins are chemical compounds that are produced by microorganisms and that are naturally present in food. The toxin can be produced by species such as bacteria, fungi, and algae. These substances are dangerous to the human health because they cause toxic symptoms to humans that can range from moderate to acute or chronic. These symptoms vary according to the type of toxins and include colic, vomiting, diarrhea, cancer, kidney disease and muscle paralysis. These microorganisms are resistant and cannot be easily removed or stopped from proliferating in food. As such, the strategic method is to prevent the growth of microbial organisms in addition to preventing the production of toxins by them. Bioremediation is an arising innovation, which can be at the same time utilized with other physical and chemical treatment methods for complete treatment of a wide group of ecological contaminants. The bioremediation relied on bacteria, fungi, or plants, which have the physiological capacities to degrade, detoxify, or render the toxins harmless. In certain cases, the microorganisms can be indigenous microorganisms present on-site, or can be imported from somewhere else and added to the material to be treated, utilizing bioreactors as an example.
