Where Next?

This part provides an overview of current political developments in Kosovo, which are characterized by a rift between the Kosovo government under the leadership of Vetëvendosje and the U.S. and EU. The Kosovo government’s approach to unilaterally enforce Kosovo’s sovereignty in the Serb dominated northern part of the country has led to new political tensions which jeopardize Kosovo’s partnership with the U.S. and the EU. It marks a significant change in foreign and security policy after decades of close coordination with the U.S. and EU with implications for Kosovo’s integration into Euro-Atlantic structures. This part concludes by highlighting the relevance of the transformation of KLA into the KPC and the KSF for future peacekeeping operations and conflict management in general.
