摘要

Nowadays, the effectiveness of ad hoc networks proves their importance in many applications, such as smart cities, the military, entertainment, health care, etc. This type of network has the ability to work without infrastructure, access points, or central control. A large field of researches focuses on the effects of various mobility models (MMs) on the functionality of ad hoc networks. The present study discusses the impact of different MMs on the performance of ad hoc networks. Methods of classifying MMs were discussed, with details for each model. The current study discusses how these models can impact the performance of various network components. It is concluded that choosing the appropriate mobility model will help to ensure that the performance evaluation is realistic and that the results can be generalized to real-world scenarios. Also, the enhancement could be focused on the terms of the most known parameters, such as packet delivery ratio (PDR), throughput, energy consumption, End-to-End delay (E2ED), and jitter. The importance of choosing the simulation tool is also discussed. The conclusion is presented at the end.
