Introduction: Israeli Historiography as a Case-Study Between Nation and Scholarship

This chapter introduces the interrogatives, inspiration and hypotheses which accompanied the research since its initial stages. It discusses the existent literature, and it presents the salience of the enquiry, while placing the topic of Israeli national historiography as an interdisciplinary and multi-level analytical crossover between state, academia and generations. It then explains the aims, methods and scope of the research on which the book is based.
