Advanced Carrier-Based Pulse-Width Modulation of Three-Phase Two-Level and Multilevel Inverters

This chapter covers models for other advanced PWM techniques for three-phase two-level and diode-clamped three-level inverter (DCTLI). This includes models for harmonic injection (HI), third harmonic injection (THI), clipped sinusoid (CS), dead-band sine (DBS) and modified sine (MS) PWM techniques for three-phase two-level inverter and multi-carrier sine level shift (MCSLS) PWM for three-phase DCTLI. Case studies are presented for three-phase clipped sine level shift PWM (CSLSPWM) and third harmonic injection sine level shift PWM (THISLSPWM) DCTLI. Also model for three-phase multi-carrier sine phase shift PWM (MCSPSPWM) five-level cascade H-bridge inverter (FLCHBI) is presented along with case studies for three-phase FLCHBI using MCCSPSPWM and MCTHISPSPWM methods. In addition, model for a three-phase modular multilevel converter (MMC) is presented along with a case study for a single-phase MMC with submodule capacitor voltage balancing.
