Hydrofoil Wing Theory Influence of Free Surface and Cavitation
摘要
This chapter focuses on the influence of a hydrofoil position relative to the water free surface and the consequences of cavitation and ventilation on its performance in a real fluid. Fully submerged and then surface piercing foils are both discussed. The cavitation phenomenon and methods to avoid or at least control it are outlined. Models to determine performance of cavitating foils are presented with foil sections to minimize drag.
