Massive Maternal Hemorrhage and REBOA

摘要

Pregnant patients are hypercoagulable and at increased risk for thrombotic events even in the setting of hemorrhage. Globally, uterine atony is one of the top five causes of maternal death and accounts for nearly 70% of cases of postpartum hemorrhage. REBOA catheters disrupt the flow of blood distal to the inflated balloon catheter and may precipitate clot formation.
