摘要

It was not until 1853 when Dr. John Snow famously and successfully administered chloroform to Queen Victoria during the birth of her child that there became increased public acceptance of labor analgesia. The same year Dr. John Snow administered chloroform to Queen Victoria, Scottish physician Alexander Wood is credited with the invention of the hypodermic syringe and hollow bore needle.
